Lewis Jeynes: General anaesthetic

General anaesthetic

Fact is, I'm terrified. In the next 3-6 weeks Lew is going to have surgery again - biopsy, gastrostomy, fundoplication, significant blood tests - and he's going to have a general anaesthetic. The last general he had was in December. Before he went in for the anaesthetic, he could use his right hand. He was having trouble, but he could use it effectively. He had the anaesthetic, he woke up, and he couldnt use his right hand any more. That and his ability to support his head were pretty much the last things to go (oh and the swallowing which was also in December). So basically, there's not much else to be taken away - apart from the Lewis we know and adore. What if he wakes up and Lewis (that sparkly little boy) just isnt there anymore. So please forgive us if we're not making much effort these next few weeks. We've got alot on our minds.

The Lewis Jeynes Fund

The Lewis Jeynes Fund was established to provide care and support to Lewis Jeynes and the success of the Fund has meant that we have also been able to purchase specialist equipment for other children with undiagnosed neurologically degenerative conditions in Doncaster and the UK.

Lewis and his friends around the UK all suffer from acute and undiagnosed life limiting or terminal conditions and very often specialist equipment is difficult to afford due to the changed circumstances at home.
